Relegation fears haunt Nene

Brazilian winger Nene is becoming increasingly concerned that Espanyol will be relegated this season.

Since winning at Barcelona last month, Espanyol have lost to Real Madrid and Villarreal and are now at the foot of the La Liga table, seven points away from safety.

No player has scored more than three goals this season and Nene knows that the team must soon start to put together a winning run if they are to avoid the drop.

He told Sport: "The time to win has arrived and it has to be this Sunday against Mallorca in order for us to start moving upwards.

"It is the most important moment of the year and we have to take it.

"We are playing against many of our direct rivals at home and away and we have to start winning. Every game is a Final.

"Every Sunday we have to do a bit more in order for the ball to go in.

"It is a source of anxiety. We are under pressure, the situation is not good and that does not help. We have to find a win in order to give us confidence."
