Gerard Moreno grabbed the winner as Espanyol claimed their first La Liga win of the season with a 2-1 success at promoted Osasuna.

Moreno finished off a swift break with a neat turn and strike 18 minutes from time, shortly after Sergio Leon had brought the hosts back into the game at Estadio El Sadar.

Leo Baptistao had opened the scoring late in the first half with a firm header. Osasuna did get the ball in the net again after 88 minutes but Roberto Torres' tap-in was ruled out for offside.

The contest was evenly fought with Leon cutting inside to force a save from Diego Lopez after four minutes while the keeper also had to keep out a header from David Garcia.

Jaime Romero also shot narrowly wide from distance for the hosts but Espanyol went close with Baptistao clipping the outside of the post from the edge of the box and Hernan Perez firing over from close range.

The opener came after 42 minutes as Victor Sanchez whipped in a cross from the right and Baptistao planted a powerful header into the top corner.

Osasuna pulled level in the 68th minute after Espanyol lost possession and Oier Sonj seized the chance to play in Romero, whose first-time cross was guided in expertly at the near post by Leon.

But parity was not to last as Espanyol broke from deep and Osasuna were wrong-footed by a brilliant run and pass by Perez, who played in Moreno.

Moreno then did the rest, beating Tano with a clever touch and then clipping the ball over Mario.
