    Young added to England squad

    22 Mar 2007 - 08:30:16

England manager Steve McClaren has called Charlton Athletic defender Luke Young into his squad for the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Israel and Andorra.

McClaren has opted to add some cover to his defence as Jonathan Woodgate is struggling with a knee problem and Micah Richards is a doubt for the trip to Israel because of a calf injury.

Gareth Barry and David Nugent have already had late call-ups after Gary Neville and Darren Bent were forced to pull out of the squad because of injury.

Young has won seven caps for his country after making his debut against the USA in May 2005. The 27-year-old's last international appearance came in the 3-2 win over Argentina six months later.

He has made 179 Premiership appearances for the Addicks since moving to The Valley from Tottenham for £3million in July 2001.
