The England World Cup squad of 2014 have been largely written off with many pundits considering them group outsiders with Italy and Uruguay expected to progress from Group D.
But there are a few crazy fools who think this England squad may spring a surprise and by comparing the percentages it reveals that this England squad, like any given a bit of form and luck could escape the ‘Group of Death’ and go further.
So were the unthinkable to happen who might England face after playing Costa Rica?
On the England side of the draw are some very tasty opponents and if they were to finish second in group D they may well face the Ivory Coast in the second round in Rio de Janeiro.
With that game hopefully won the Quarter-final would put England against the hosts and favourites Brazil. Let’s just say that England break Brazilian hearts and reach the Semi-final stage, who would they play? Well they would likely be looking at facing Spain and are then in touching distance of a final that could see them face either Germany or Argentina.
With a slice more luck all the new England kits after that final will have an extra star sewn on and twenty-three new England footballing legends…But then of course there exists the possibility that England may not progress beyond the group stage but its tempting to dream.
