Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer represented England at two European Championships during an 8 year international career.

His first Euro appearance was in 1996 with England the host nation.

He finished the tournament as top scorer with 5 goals; 4 of which had been scored in the group stages and one more against Germany in the semi finals.

Shearer scored his 6th and 7th European Championship goals in 2000, in group stage games against Germany and Romania.

He retired from international duty after Euro 2000 with 30 goals and 63 caps for England.

His illustrious 18 year club career saw him play for Southampton and Blackburn before finishing his career with boyhood club Newcastle.
