Carlton Cole, Gary Cahill and Stephen Warnock have been added to the England squad for Wednesday's friendly against France, with Gabriel Agbonlahor, John Terry and Ashley Cole all out of the game at Wembley. Cole was added to Fabio Capello's squad to provide cover to Andy Carroll, who has a minor groin strain, even before Agbonalhor withdrew from the squad due to an injury he suffered playing for Aston Villa against Manchester United on Saturday. Agbonlahor's withdrawal on Sunday evening was the third of the day, with the Chelsea defenders Terry and Cole ruled out in the afternoon. Terry missed Chelsea's 3-0 Premier League loss to Sunderland on Sunday, while it is unclear what injury Cole suffered having played the full 90 minutes of the surprise defeat at Stamford Bridfe. "Terry trained on Saturday but, at the end of the training session, he had pain on his nerve in his hamstring and we had the test on Sunday morning," said the Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti. "He has had control of this problem. He never missed a training session but yesterday the pain was more, so he was not able to play. He's doing good prevention, good treatment. Everything will be okay for him." Carroll joined up with the Three Lions squad on Sunday, and will be assessed before Monday's first training session. If he misses out Capello must decide whether to add another forward to his squad of go with the three-pronged attack of Peter Crouch, Jay Bothroyd and Cole. Kieran Gibbs is likely to play at left-back in the absence of Cole, although Warnock is an option for that position.
