Three Lions call is dream for Jarvis

Matt Jarvis resorted to ringing a local restaurant to tell his parents he had been picked by England. The Wolves winger could barely get off the phone once the news was confirmed that Fabio Capello had given him his first call-up for Saturday's Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales in Cardiff and the friendly with Ghana at Wembley on March 29. It was so hectic, Jarvis could not get through to his mum and dad, former table tennis champions Nick and Linda at their Guildford home, so he restored to going through a third party. "I couldn't get hold of my parents for a while. I eventually phoned a restaurant where I thought they would be and fortunately they were there so I was able to tell them the news," Jarvis told www.wolves.co.uk. "Like every player, it has been a dream of mine to play for England and getting into the squad takes me one step closer." Jarvis, 24, was named in a couple of provisional squads earlier this season but failed to make the final cut.  With Theo Walcott and Adam Johnson ruled out through injury, Capello has handed Jarvis his chance to compete for starting spots with Aaron Lennon and Ashley Young, and he could become the first Wolves play to win a full cap since Steve Bull in October 1990.
