Terry reveals McClaren fury
25 Mar 2007 - 14:48:47
England captain John Terry has revealed manager Steve McClaren blasted his players after Saturday's disappointing goalless draw with Israel.
England laboured to a 0-0 draw with their Euro 2008 Group E qualifying opponents and afterwards a frustrated McClaren turned on his players in the dressing room.
"The manager had his rant and rave, which was rightly so," revealed Terry.
"It feels as though we are walking away having lost the game.
"The dressing room was dead and I'm not going to go into the specifics of what went on in there. That's between us and we'll talk about it a lot more.
"But it was just silence among the lads and frustration that we haven't come away with three points."
Before the match Terry had called for an improved showing after a below-par qualifying campaign to date and afterwards the skipper joined forces with McClaren in claiming a lack of composure in the final third cost England in Tel Aviv.
"We dominated, we created chances early on and you're thinking, 'sooner or later it's going to come'.
"But then you're 10-15 minutes into the second half and you're thinking, 'where is the goal going to come from?'
"We had the chances which is encouraging. But at the same time we really need to put them away."
