Terry in England penalty shoot-out five

John Terry is reportedly among England's first-choice penaly takers set for a test of nerves if their last-16 meeting with Germany goes the distance.

The Chelsea captain is thought to be in Fabio Capello's five along with Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard, who will step up if the game finishes level after extra-time in Bloemfontein on Sunday.

Terry famously fluffed a crucial spot-kick in the 2008 Champions League final, missing the chance to deliver Chelsea the greatest prize in European club football.

Manchester United went on to triumph, and Terry has admitted he will remain haunted by that night until he leads Chelsea to Champions League glory.

But the Blues skipper is apparently ready for his very own 'Stuart Pearce' moment at this year's World Cup - and will not shirk the responsibility in the knock-out stages.

England lost on penalties to Germany in the semi-finals of both the 1990 World Cup and the 1996 European Championships.
