Terry fit to face Slovenia

England and Chelsea captain John Terry insists he will be able to start Saturday's friendly international against Slovenia despite missing a training session earlier in the week.

The influential defender also admits that he is finding it difficult to focus on the Slovenia match as England's important World Cup qualifier against Croatia takes place next Wednesday.

He said: "It's difficult not to think about Croatia.

"It was a disappointing night for everybody involved with England when we lost to Croatia (in a Euro 2008 qualifier), but we can't go in with that revenge mentality. That's been and gone, it's a missed opportunity.

"The quicker we qualify the better as we'll give ourselves, and the manager, a lot of time to try new formations and new players.

"It will give us a chance to relax and really enjoy our football going into that World Cup.

"I trained on Thursday and Friday and I'm 100 per cent fit. It's down to myself and Rio (Ferdinand) to cement our places now and keep the other members of the squad fighting for them.

"We've had some good results this season. It was important to carry on the momentum from last season."
