Terry Venables insists Roy Hodgson can accommodate Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Wayne Rooney in his England team at Euro 2016.
Rooney's place in the national side is under scrutiny after a difficult season with Manchester United while Leicester and Tottenham forwards Vardy and Kane topped the goalscoring charts.
If England boss Hodgson bows to public pressure and pairs Kane and Vardy together, skipper Rooney's position could be under threat.
But Venables, who memorably guided England to the semi-finals at Euro 96, has a simple solution - pick all three.
"You can play Kane, Vardy and Rooney," said Venables at the Three Lions pub, launching Carlsberg's 'Pubstitutions' campaign.
"It reminds me of the clamour for me not to pick Alan Shearer ahead of Euro 96.
"I always knew I was going to pick Alan, even if I kept him sweating a bit in the build-up.
"But it would have been madness to have left him out - just like it would be with Rooney.
"Kane plays at a strong canter, Vardy is flat out, and you've got Rooney who is crafty. Rooney has learnt to do the Teddy Sheringham thing and ask defenders questions.
"That interchange of positions has got to be delivered in football at this level now."
Venables says Hodgson has a squad capable of challenging in France and has no doubt what would be classed as a successful tournament.
"I think the squad is fantastic, look how many players at that level you've got," he added.
"We're packed with goals with Vardy and Kane - those boys are just amazing - and then Marcus Rashford.
"Roy's got the cards. There's no doubt we've seen the players playing at a very high level in the Premier League and now internationals. These boys know what they are doing and they are loving it.
"What would be success? To win it. And they can win it."
