Terry still wants England captaincy

John Terry, the Chelsea defender, has declared his intention to win back the England captaincy. The centre-back lost the armband following tabloid revelations about an affair with the former girlfriend of club and international teammate Wayne Bridge, with Rio Ferdinand now asked to lead the Three Lions. Terry kept his England place - Bridge effectively announced his international retirement, stating his presence would be a "divisive influence" - and has said he hopes to return to a point where he can be his country's official leader. "The only way I can go about my business is to play well, hopefully be in the side at the World Cup and hopefully one day get that [captaincy] back," he told  Football Focus. "When I had the meeting with the [England] manager [Fabio Capello] it was obviously difficult to take. But at the same time I respected him and I told him that nothing changes, I'll still give 100 per cent. "I took it on the shoulders and moved on, there's no point in dwelling on it."
