Spurs duo earn England recall
31 Aug 2009 - 10:16:51
England manager Fabio Capello has recalled in-form Tottenham Hotspur duo Peter Crouch and Aaron Lennon to his 24-man squad for the forthcoming games against Slovenia and Croatia at Wembley.
England face Slovenia in a friendly on Saturday before facing Croatia in a World Cup qualifier on September 9.
Both Crouch and Lennon have contributed to Spurs' excellent start to the campaign and netted in Saturday's 2-1 win against Birmingham City.
However, they were not included in Capello's squad for the draw with the Netherlands earlier this month.
Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster returns from injury to join fellow shot-stoppers Robert Green and Paul Robinson in the squad while Wes Brown is also included.
However, there is still no place for Michael Owen in Capello's plans.
The full England squad:
Goalkeepers: Ben Foster (Manchester United), Robert Green (West Ham United), Paul Robinson (Blackburn Rovers).
Defenders: Wayne Bridge (Manchester City), Wes Brown (Manchester United), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Joleon Lescott (Manchester City), John Terry (Chelsea), Matthew Upson (West Ham United).
Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), David Beckham (LA Galaxy), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham Hotspur), James Milner (Aston Villa), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City), Ashley Young (Aston Villa).
Forwards: Carlton Cole (West Ham United), Peter Crouch (Tottenham Hotspur), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham Hotspur), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United).
