The England U19 side were knocked out of the European Championship at the semi-final stage. England trailed after 11 minutes when Daniel Pacheco put Spain ahead and Keko doubled their advantage when he finished off a stunning team move after 34 seconds. The Tottenham Hotspur youngster John Bostock gave Noel Blake's side hope of a comeback with a snap volley that flew into the bottom right corner of the net after 37 minutes to ensure they were within a goal at half-time. The match was over as a contest after 57 minutes when Sergio Canales got on the scoresheet. England worked hard but never truly threatened Spain, and certainly did not look capable of getting two goals back even though the one weakness of the Spanish team was at the centre of defence where they struggled with the stronger English forwards.
