Rooney one of greatest - Neville

Wayne Rooney has been told he can consider himself one of the best players of all time, if he can win an international trophy with England. At least that is the view of Manchester United teammate Gary Neville, himself a former Three Lions international. Rooney is a doubt for Wednesday’s friendly against Egypt at Wembley because of a knee injury, but his place on the plane to South Africa is assured as the star player for both United and his country. "Wayne is a great player to play with and is one of the brilliant Manchester United players have had," said Neville, after Rooney’s headed goal proved decisive in the 2-1 Carling Cup victory over Aston Villa on Sunday. "He has been brilliant for England too. The only thing he has to do for England now is go and win something. That is what England players have been striving to do for the past 40 years. That would really crown it off for him."
