Rooney groin injury not serious

Wayne Rooney, potentially key to England's hopes in this summer's World Cup finals, should not suffer any lasting effects from the groin injury that forced him to limp out of Manchester United's final Premier League game of the season. The striker had to come off with 13 minutes of the 4-0 win over Stoke City at Old Trafford still to play, but manager Sir Alex Ferguson did not expect it to still be affecting him when the Three Lions start preparations for the tournament. "It is his groin again but I don't think it's too serious," he said. Fabio Capello, the England coach, will name a 30 man preliminary squad on Tuesday before cutting it down to 23 players after the friendlies against Mexico and Japan at the end of the month.
