Romania play-off test for U21s

The England U21 side will take on Romania in a play-off for the right to compete in next summer's European Championship. Stuart Pearce's side were one of the best runners-up in qualifying Group 9, but will face a touch test against a Romania side who topped Group 1 The games will be played on Otober 8 and 12, with England at home in the first leg. "We have got a very tough match, they qualified extremely well and very strongly with a good record," said Pearce. "The finals in Denmark next summer is a big opportunity for the seven nations that get there. We're very excited but, as we've seen before in qualification, matches that look easier on paper are not so easy and tough games don't turn out the way you think they will."
