    Robinson remains upbeat

    18 Apr 2007 - 14:33:18

Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson remains confident that England will qualify for the Euro 2008 finals in Austria and Switzerland next summer.

England's prospects have dimmed after disappointing recent results against Macedonia, Croatia and Israel, but the former Leeds United shot-stopper sees no reason why Steve McClaren's side cannot still qualify.

"I genuinely believe we'll qualify," he told Sky Sports News. "Once we play at home, we'll get the fans behind us at Wembley.

"If we get a win away in Estonia hopefully, in June, it'll start the campaign going again with three points.

"There's no reason why we can't qualify. I think we must qualify.

"We've made it difficult for ourselves with the results we've had. They weren't ideal results, the last two games, as we were looking to win both games.

"But we've got ourselves in a situation where we've been away to all the difficult places apart from Russia and everybody has got to come to us.

"Playing at Wembley is a massive advantage. It's down to ourselves. We've not made it easy for ourselves, but it's not impossible."
