Liverpool and England winger Stuart Downing says that the Three Lions don't fear Monday night opponents France in preparations to their opening game.

Downing, 27 will be part of the 23 man squad which will face France on Monday evening before facing Sweden (15th June) and joint hosts Ukraine four days later. "We are confident we can get a result. We don't fear them. We know they are a good team but so are we. We know their strength and weaknesses." Said the Liverpool winger.

He went on to deny suggestions that there is talk in the camp about the omission of Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand from the squad; "Whoever the manager picks, we get on with it. I concentrate on my position in the team and so do the other players."
