Relief for Terry after scan

John Terry has played down fears over his fitness for this summer's World Cup after a scan showed no broken bone in his right foot.

The Chelsea skipper hurt his foot in training on Wednesday as his side prepared for the FA Cup final with Portsmouth, leading to fears that he may have broken a metatarsal, but a scan has revealed no major problem.

Terry said in a statement to Press Association Sport: "I took a slight knock in training but with such an important match on Saturday the right course of action was to put a protective boot on my right foot and have a CT scan."
