Redknapp keen to coach Olympic side

The Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has said he would be interested in coaching the British football team in the 2012 London Olympics. The team will consist entirely of English players as the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish football associations have said they do not want to contribute to the team. Sir Alex Ferguson, the Scottish boss of Manchester United, has already said he does not want to coach the team - although this could change if he has retired from Old Trafford as the tournament approaches. Redknapp - also touted as a potential replacement for Fabio Capello as coach of the senior England team when the Italian steps down after the 2012 European Championship - said on Monday he would be keen to coach the side. "Of course: anybody would be, wouldn't they?" he said, when asked if he would be interested. "But, suddenly, it's 'Harry wants to be manager of whatever'. Never at any stage has it entered my mind. I don't know who selects it, how it gets selected."
