Redknapp keen on Beckham

Harry Redknapp has confirmed he is trying to sign the midfielder David Beckham on loan until the end of the season. Beckham, 35, has played for the American side Los Angeles Galaxy since 2007, but had two spells on loan at AC Milan in a bid to prolong his international career. He has made 115 appearances for England, scoring 17 goals. He would hope that a move to the Premier League would keep him in the eye of Fabio Capello, the Three Lions coach. "He'd be a good influence, he's the type of lad that would be good at your club," said Redknapp. "He'd have to fight for his place. He's not going to start every game, but he could come on and play a few positions for you. He keeps the ball, can score goals and make goals." Beckham was born in East London but has never played for a club in the capital. He was offered schoolboy terms by Spurs, where he had trained until he was 14, but opted instead to move north to Manchester United.
