Players' attitude impresses Redknapp
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes his players are finally dedicating themselves to success - just like the England squad for Fabio Capello.
Redknapp took over at White Hart Lane eight Barclays Premier League games into last season and has inspired a transformation at the club.
"It was a fearful atmosphere when I got here," Redknapp said.
"There was no confidence and an air of fear about the place. Now I have players who are confident. The big turning point was in the last window of the season when Robbie Keane, Wilson Palacios and Jermain Defoe came in, it was a much stronger group of players. They are playing well for their countries."
It was part of Redknapp's plan to get Spurs more focused on winning.
They had earned a reputation of being a squad full of players more interested in partying than winning, and even since Redknapp's turning point Ledley King and David Bentley have been in the headlines for the wrong reasons.
Redknapp, though, is now happier with the attitude of his players.
"Do you think Capello would stand for his players drinking?" he said. "I don't think so. He expects people to be dedicated to their jobs.
"People will look after themselves because the manager demands that and that's good. One or two have been lucky to get away with things and they can't afford any other slip-ups. They have to keep performing.
"All the problems that come with footballers come with drinking. It does in most people's lives. They have to dedicate themselves to it.
"If the guys don't conform they have no part in what we are doing."
