Pearce calls for Bentley
30 May 2007 - 11:36:56
Blackburn Rovers winger David Bentley has been included in the England Under-21s squad for the European Championships in the Netherlands later this summer.
Bentley is also in the senior squad for the games against Brazil and Estonia and had been expected to miss the under-21s action as a result.
One notable absentee is Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor, who is omitted after missing a training camp in Spain ahead of next week's friendly against Slovakia at Norwich City's Carrow Road ground.
There are three uncapped players in Stuart Pearce's 23-man squad, Spurs goalkeeper Ben Alnwick, West Ham midfielder Mark Noble and Everton striker James Vaughan.
England start their European Championship campaign against the Czech Republic on June 11, while they also face Italy and Serbia in the group stages in Holland.
Squad: Alnwick (Tottenham), Carson (Liverpool), Hart (Man City); Baines (Wigan), Cahill (Aston Villa), Ferdinand (West Ham), Hoyte (Arsenal), Onuoha (Man City), Rosenior (Fulham), Taylor (Newcastle), Whittingham (Cardiff); Bentley (Blackburn), Huddlestone (Tottenham), Milner (Newcastle), Noble (West Ham), Reo-Coker (West Ham), Richardson (Man Utd), Routledge (Tottenham); Derbyshire (Blackburn), Lita (Reading), Nugent (Preston), Vaughan (Everton), Young (Aston Villa).
