No guarantees for Defoe despite Dutch double

England striker Jermain Defoe is refusing to take his place in Fabio Capello's squad for granted despite scoring twice to earn a draw against Holland in Amsterdam. Capello's men were trailing by two goals before the Tottenham marksman was brought on at the Amsterdam ArenA, with the 26-year-old then taking his international tally to double figures. It should earn Defoe a place in the squad for the friendly against Slovenia and the qualifier against Croatia next month that could edge England closer to the World Cup - but the former West Ham forward knows he needs to keep scoring when the Premier League campaign starts at the weekend. "To be honest the season hasn't started yet so I just want to get back to the club, keep working hard, get a good start in the Premier League and take it from there," he said.
