No break for Arsenal's Gibbs

Kieran Gibbs did not break his left ankle in Arsenal's Carling Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur. Gibbs, 20, suffered the injury on Tuesday night and initial fears were that he had broken a metatarsal - the same injury he suffered last season. "The club is happy to confirm that a scan to Kieran's foot has shown there is no fracture," read a statement from Arsenal. "Kieran has suffered severe bruising to his left foot and will hopefully only be missing from first-team action for the short term." Gibbs has one senior England cap, appearing in August's friendly win over August.
