Milner sets sights on title

Saturday's Premier League results, and performances, may suggest Aston Villa are on course for Europe and Manchester City for a season of struggle - but James Milner, who completed his move to Eastlands on Wednesday, does not see it like that. Milner, 24, suggested his move back north was so he could join a side capable of challenging for the Premier League title. They will certainly need to improve from their performance at White Hart Lane, where City were overrun - in particular in the first-half - and lucky to escape with a goalless draw. "It didn't take too much selling by the boss [Roberto Mancini] when you see the players who are already here and the plans for the club," said Milner. "The last thing he said to me was 'be ready for the next game', and then he said 'be ready to win the Premier League', and that's my ultimate aim - that's what I want to do and why I'm here. "There's a lot of competition to get there, it's where we all want to be. I'm ambitious and I want to win trophies here. I believe this is a great place to do that and I believe we will do it. Hopefully, sooner rather than later." The transfer is believed to be worth around £26million, with the Irish midfielder Stephen Ireland moving to Villa Park as part of the deal.
