Milner and Villa build bridges

James Milner held talks with Aston Villa on Monday as speculation linking him with a move to Manchester City continued. Milner's future at Villa Park was put into doubt last week when Martin O'Neill, the Villa manager, said the England midfielder wanted to move north to Eastlands. Milner has made 90 appearances for the Birmingham-based club since they bought him from Newcastle for £13million in the summer of 2008. City have offered £20m, but are being asked for an additional £10m. Milner trained with his current teammates on Monday and will fly with the squad to Portugal, where they are due to take part in a pre-season tournament, on Wednesday.
