Mac may turn to Pompey duo
07 Aug 2007 - 09:19:45
England boss Steve McClaren has hinted that Portsmouth duo Sol Campbell and David James could be in line for international recalls.
The 32-year-old Campbell's last England appearance came as a substitute in the draw with Sweden in the 2006 World Cup Finals, while James has not featured since the friendly against Jamaica 14 months ago.
However, both could play in the friendly international against Germany later this month.
"Certainly, with the injuries we've got, I'll not be dismissing going to watch Portsmouth," said McClaren.
"Sol Campbell had a very good year last year.
"Obviously, with the injury to Ben Foster, it would be silly and foolish of me to dismiss David James. You can't close the door on anyone."
Defenders John Terry, Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King are all currently injured while Jamie Carragher has said he does not want to play for England again.
