Lennon backed for England

Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has tipped winger Aaron Lennon to win an England recall.

Lennon, 21, tormented the Blackburn Rovers defence during Sunday's 1-0 victory at White Hart Lane and his run set up Roman Pavlyuchenko's first-half winner.

The former Leeds United starlet dropped out of the England frame after losing his starting place under former Spurs head coach Juande Ramos last season.

But Redknapp believes Lennon should be recalled by England coach Fabio Capello for the next international fixture - a friendly against Spain - in February.

Lennon was part of Sven-Goran Eriksson's 2006 World Cup squad and has won nine full international caps.

"If England coach Fabio Capello starts seeing him play like that, he'll get back in the picture," said Redknapp.

"He was the wonderkid at the last World Cup, then went off the radar. I think his confidence is coming back.

"There is nothing to stop him because there are not many wingers around who can do what he does.

"He is exciting, he carries the game forward for us."
