Lampard could miss out
16 Oct 2007 - 12:06:42
Steve McClaren could start with Frank Lampard on the substitute's bench for a second successive game when England take on Russia in a crucial Euro 2008 qualifier in Moscow on Wednesday.
The Chelsea midfielder was booed when he came on as a second-half replacement for Michael Owen against Estonia on Saturday.
Lampard was expected to come in for Gareth Barry, but speculation that he would once again be left out intensified when he was not included in the first XI formation during England's 90-minute training session on Monday.
Joleon Lescott was also preferred as Ashley Cole's replacement at left-back and could make his first England start in Russia.
John Terry is expected to be fit enough to return to action after playing alongside Rio Ferdinand in Monday's warm-up session in Altrincham.
The Chelsea stalwart was unable to train because of his injured left knee on Sunday after missing the 3-0 victory against Estonia.
England start the Euro 2008 qualifier second in Group E, five points clear of Russia, although Guus Hiddink's side do have a game in hand.
