Lampard: Redknapp the man for England

Chelsea star Frank Lampard has backed his uncle Harry Redknapp to be the next England boss.

Tottenham boss Redknapp has often been linked with the job in the past and, with Fabio Capello set to relinquish the position after Euro 2012, Tottenham's European exploits have again put him in the spotlight.

Lampard, who worked under Redknapp at West Ham, told The Sun: "Harry's the best choice. For me, it's got to be him.

The midfielder continued: "Obviously, I'd be very proud if he is the next England boss because of the family connection.

"If we're looking for a home-grown manager next, Harry's definitely the one. Six months ago people would have said Roy Hodgson, he was the favourite but not now."

Bolton boss Owen Coyle this week hailed Redknapp as the perfect candidate after Tottenham's 3-1 win over European champions Inter Milan.

And Lampard added: "Look where he's taking Tottenham right now. Who can argue with this week's performance against the European champions Inter Milan?

"And remember what he did at Portsmouth and West Ham before that."
