Rickie Lambert would have no fears about putting his almost impeccable penalty record to the test at a World Cup finals.
Whilst most English footballers have found it exceedingly difficult to score from 12 yards over the years, Lambert has a fantastic recent strike rate.
The Southampton striker, just like Saints great Matt Le Tissier, has scored his last 33 penalties and is yet to miss from the spot since joining the south coast club in 2009.
The 31-year-old is on course to be included in the England squad for Brazil after scoring six goals for club and country since the start of the season.
Should he make the plane, he would have no qualms about taking a penalty.
"Obviously if I got that chance I would be confident of scoring," said Lambert, who has a pretty straightforward technique when it comes to spot-kicks.
"It is not rocket science to be honest. I just pick a corner and hit it as hard as I can and just be confident.
"It is working pretty well."
England have one of the worst penalty records in international football.
Of the seven shoot-outs they have contested, they have tasted success just once, in Euro '96 versus Spain.
But given that the likes of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard have been prolific from the spot for over a decade, Lambert sees plenty of reasons why England could break their hoodoo should they have to take part in a shootout.
"We have got some of the best technical players who can strike a ball, so I don't think they need showing how to take a penalty," Lambert added.
"I am more than confident with the players we have got that they can score a penalty."
Lambert, meanwhile, is hoping to use the forthcoming games against Chile and Germany as a means of cementing his place in Hodgson's World Cup squad.
"I will try to continue to impress and, if I get a chance on Friday or Tuesday, whether I am starting of coming on as a sub, I will be determined to do well," the former Rochdale and Bristol Rovers man said.
"(Going to the World Cup) is a possibility and that is what I am aware of.
"I know how hard it is going to be to get there. It is a long way away and I know how hard it is going to be."
