Klasnic claims Terry punch
11 Sep 2009 - 09:26:41
Croatia striker Ivan Klasnic claims he was punched in the kidneys by England captain John Terry during Wednesday's World Cup qualifier.
The striker, who has recently joined Bolton Wanderers on loan, was a second-half substitute in his side's 5-1 defeat at Wembley and has accused the Chelsea defender of deliberately striking him.
Klasnic's career was saved by a kidney transplant in 2007.
He told The Sun: "He hit me with a fist exactly in the place where I've been operated.
"I was lucky to be wearing a protective belt. He is the first player who has tried to hit me on purpose in the kidneys.
"He insulted me first and then hit me."
After the match Terry accused Klasnic of spitting at him - something the striker has strenuously denied.
"And now he has accused me of spitting at him? I didn't do it," he continued. "We spoke after the final whistle and I thought we sorted everything out, but obviously not so."
