Johnson out of Brazil match

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson will miss England's international friendly with Brazil through injury. The Reds full-back has pulled out of the squad for the game in Qatar after aggravating a niggling problem during Monday's 2-2 Premier League draw with Birmingham City. Johnson has struggled with groin and calf problems since joining the Reds in an £18million deal from Portsmouth during the summer. His absence leaves just one recognised right-back in Wes Brown of Manchester United available to head coach Fabio Capello. "Glen Johnson will not travel with England to face Brazil and has returned to Liverpool this evening (Tuesday)," read a statement from the Football Association. "Johnson was assessed by the England medical staff and has returned to his club for further treatment."
