Joe Hart, Ben Foster, Jack Butland? Goalkeepers for the World Cup Qualifiers

With the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers quickly approaching, who will Roy Hodgson select as the goalkeepers?

Joe Hart is having a fantastic season for Manchester City with bloopers a rarity for the Premier League champions, so it is unlikely that Joe Hart will be dropped unless he has an itchy scalp.

What I'm more interested in who will be the replacements in the squad if Joe Hart was to get itchy scalp.

After his recent u-turn on his international retirement, West Brom keeper Ben Foster is open for selection for the national team again. The former Manchester United and Watford stopper has been in superb form for the Baggies this season and deserves a call up. The reason for his very early retirement was due to Fabio Capello's very strict regime as England Boss but with his former manger, Roy Hodgson, taking the England hot seat, Ben Foster has stated his intent to return. At the moment I would have to say that he is England's best back up so we need him in the squad.

A player who could possibly get another call up is 19 year old keeper, Jack Butland. The Stoke City keeper (on loan at Birmingham) has been very much in Roy Hodgson's plans even though he is No.1 for the U21 side. However I'm sure Butland would prefer to be part of the senior side then be playing for the U21 team. Butland has continued to improve and that is why he earned a move to the Premier League in January.

Fraser Foster who plays for Celtic is another player that really deserves another call up. He has been in great form for Celtic as has helped them get through to the knock out stages of the Champions League and to the top of the SPL. The former Newcastle United keeper moved from the North East to Scotland permanently and has been able to settle and really step up his game for the Scottish champions. Once tipped to be the England No.1 -  which is still possible -  but not likely with Hart playing at the standard he is.

One that will cause controversy is QPR keeper Robert Green. If you can remember, the former West Ham United keeper was England No.1 till that infamous night in South Africa. That memory still rots his mind and the experienced stopper has never appeared to return to his former self. This however was until Harry Redknapp turned up at QPR. The former Spurs boss has appeared to help Robert Green and his troubles and now he appears to have turned the corner. However, I wouldn't expect him to be called up just yet, but I don't think it will be long until he returns to the England jersey.
