Jack Butland plans to put pressure on England first choice Joe Hart

Jack Butland is determined to put pressure on incumbent England goalkeeper Joe Hart.

The Stoke stopper made his Three Lions debut against Italy in August 2012 and is back in Roy Hodgson's plans ahead of a Euro 2016 qualifying double-header against San Marino and Switzerland.

Hart has collected 52 caps and his recent performances for Manchester City suggest he will get the nod against Switzerland next Tuesday, but there may be an opportunity for Butland before then.

The 22-year-old is not prepared to be Hart's understudy forever and will state his case for the gloves if he is picked against San Marino on Saturday evening.

He told a press conference broadcast on Sky Sports News: "I feel in great form and am really happy to be back in the squad and I don't want to be here to just make up the numbers.

"Joe's an incredible keeper who's established himself for a long time now. He's reached his 50 caps, which is brilliant, but for me I want to put pressure on him and hopefully get some game time.

"I'm going to enjoy the week but ultimately put some pressure on and show people what I'm about."
