Wigan Athletic striker Emile Heskey has been ruled out of England's squad for the friendly against Switzerland after suffering a new injury in the 1-0 win against
West ham United.
The 30-year-old former Liverpool star had been one of five strikers named by new England boss Fabio Capello in his initial 30-man squad.
However, Latics boss Steve Bruce said after his side's victory: "Emile's got a nerve problem, I think.
"It's a continuation of the big fella being out for three or four months because he's getting niggles, pulls and strains all the time."
On his side's win, the former Birmingham boss added: "That's 15 points from 11 games since I've been here, and that is a good return, enough to keep us in the Premier League.
"The question now is, can we maintain it? We've 13 matches left, and if we can get another 15 points, I think that will be enough to see us safe.
"They've shown to me they've got something about them, and again today they've given everything they've got."
