Hodgson won't become England coach this summer

There is no vacancy to become England coach, but Roy Hodgson took himself out of the running on Thursday when he became Liverpool coach. He makes the move north after the Reds agreed compensation with Fulham, believed to be around £2million, for his services. Hodgson becomes the only English coach at a "big four" club. "This is the biggest job in club football and I'm honoured to be taking on the role of manager of Britain's most successful football club," he said. "I look forward to meeting the players and the supporters and getting down to work at Melwood." Hodgson had been among the bookmakers' favourites to become the next England coach. The Football Association are taking two weeks to reflect on the position of the current coach Fabio Capello after elimination from the World Cup finals in South Africa at the second round stage.
