England boss Roy Hodgson was happy to emerge with a point following his side's 1-1 draw with France in what was his first competitive fixture at the helm.

Joleon Lescott's opener for the Three Lions was cancelled out by a Samir Nasri's long-range strike but Hodgson was pleased nonetheless with England's display at the Donbass Arena.

"I think we played well as we we played against a tough team," said Hodgson.

"We were very disciplined and to finish 1-1 and ask the questions of them we did we've got to be happy.

"I'm not frustrated at giving away the equaliser as we kept them at bay really. In fact we had our own chances."
