Hart backs Foster for Birmingham

Joe Hart has suggested Ben Foster would be an adequate replacement for him at Birmingham next season - after being told he will not be allowed to return to St Andrews on loan. Hart's impressive season with Blues looks set to see him go to the World Cup finals as part of England's squad alongside the more experienced keepers David James and Robert Green. He would have been happy to extend his stay at the Midlands club, but expects to spend the next campaign trying to dislodge Shay Given at his parent club Manchster City. "I just waited for my orders, and my orders were that I went back. I am contracted to Manchester City so that's where I will be," he told the Daily Express. "I will admit, it's sad. But it was out of my hands. If I could have stayed at Birmingham, I would, but it wasn't down to me." That leaves Birmingham in need of a new keeper for next season. Media commentators have quickly put Foster, third choice at Manchester United, forward. "He is a fantastic keeper. Ben has had some harsh criticism at Manchester United this season but, if he does turn out to be the Birmingham keeper next season, he will do a good job," added Hart.
