A stoppage time goal from Matt Phillips sent the England U19 side into the semi-finals of the European Championship where they will now face Spain. The Wycombe Wanders scored three minutes into time added on against France in their final froup game to score a vital equaliser after the young Three Lions had looked to be going out. However Austria's late goal to seal a 1-0 win over Holland opened the door for England, who had trailed to a goal from Yannis Tafer. Austria scored after 87 minutes to give England more hope, with Nathan Delfouneso their biggest threat before Philips followed up his own header to turn in the rebound and book a place in the last four. It was no more than England deserved, having been kept at bay due to an impressive performance from the France goalkeeper. France will face Croatia in the other semi-final.
