England Women have been dealt a setback ahead of the double-header against Serbia after Chelsea players Fran Kirby and Gilly Flaherty pulled out of Mark Sampson's squad.

Striker Kirby and centre-back Flaherty both have leg injuries and must miss the Euro 2017 qualifying games, the Football Association announced.

"Head coach Mark Sampson has chosen not to replace the Chelsea pair," the FA said on its website.

England face Serbia on Saturday at Wycombe before travelling to tackle the same opposition in Stara Pazova on Tuesday.

Sampson has strong defensive cover for Flaherty while the likes of Ellen White, Jodie Taylor and Nikita Parris will be hoping for the chance to line up in attack, with midfielder Jill Scott having also been recently deployed in an advanced role.
