Foster closes on Birmingham move

The goalkeeper Ben Foster is expected to complete a £6million move to Birmingham City on Tuesday or Wednesday in a bid to revive his career. Foster, 27, began the season as a regular at Manchester United - as Edwin van der Sar was injured - and expected to challenge to be England's first-choice keeper for this summer's World Cup finals. It did not go to plan for the former Stoke City keeper, who lost the confidence of United's manager Sir Alex Ferguson and quickly became their third-choice keeper. He will be watching the World Cup on TV rather than being in South Africa. Birmingham are believed to be paying around £6million as a transfer fee.
