Five things we learned from England's match against Turkey

England warmed up for Euro 2016 with a 2-1 win over Turkey .

Here, football.co.uk takes a look back at five things we learned from the victory.

ALLI AND KANE MUST BE ALMOST INKED INTO THE SIDE

The strength of the understanding between Tottenham pair Harry Kane and Dele Alli has been evident all season and it makes perfect sense to keep them together. The combinations between the pair again worked so well in Manchester that England would look less potent without them in tandem.

JAMIE VARDY IS WASTED OUT WIDE

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy demands inclusion in England's squad after an outstanding season but there seems little point playing him in a different position to the one in which he has been so successful. Vardy spent large parts of the game wide on the left and it seemed alien to him. He had more chances centrally in the second half and snaffled a chance.

ENGLAND'S BEST SYSTEM IS UNCLEAR

Roy Hodgson took the opportunity to try out a few different formulas, with limited success. The side's shape in the first half looked good but the personnel, with Vardy wide, did not fit. Switching to two up front in the latter stages brought Vardy into the game more but the midfield diamond behind the front pair was too easily pulled out of shape.

QUESTION MARKS STILL OVER WILSHERE

Nobody is doubting the ability of Jack Wilshere but, after an injury-ravaged season, it remains to be seen whether he can reach the required level of match-fitness in time for Euro 2016. He looked well off the pace here and was withdrawn in the second half. The run-out may will have done him good but time could be running out to get the minutes into his legs.

TURKEY CAN SPRING SURPRISES

Turkey may be one of the unfancied teams in a group featuring Spain, Croatia and the Czech Republic at the Euros but they could make life uncomfortable for their rivals. They are technically sound, have some sharp operators at the top end and can be strong in defence. They also have an experienced coach in Fatih Terim and could find another gear come the championships.
