Ferguson rejected England twice

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed he has twice been offered the job of England manager - but has ruled out the possibility of ever coaching the Three Lions. Ferguson is believed to have been sounded out in 1996 to replace Terry Venables and again in 1999 when Glenn Hoddle was sacked. He was also wanted to coach the British team in the 2012 London Olympics. "I was offered the chance to manage the England team on a couple of occasions but, of course, it was just out of the question," said Ferguson, speaking on Manchester United's pre-season tour of North America. "It's a poisoned chalice anyway. I think it's a terrible job, plus the fact that I would have had a tremendous handicap being Scottish. No matter which way you look it, that's important."
