Rio Ferdinand has played in World Cups and the Champions League final, but was just as pleased to be running out at Glanford Park on Wednesday night. The England defender played the full 90 minutes of Manchester United's 5-2 Carling Cup win over Scunthorpe. The centre-back probably would not have played if he had been fully fit, but the match was only his second back after a knee injury. "Any game is good to be playing in, I'm just happy to be playing games now. Every game I'm getting sharper and long may it continue," he told Sky Sports. Wednesday's match was not as one-sided as the scoreline suggested, with the Iron having more possession and creating 22 chances. "It's always going to be a tricky test coming to places like this," Ferdinand said. "There was great support tonight from both sets of fans, and it really geed them on in the first-half especially, but when we got our foot back in the game we settled and started playing and put the game to bed."
