Gareth Southgate has made it clear he wants the England manager's job on a permanent basis, Football Association chief executive Martin Glenn has revealed.

Southgate has been in interim charge since Sam Allardyce left the role in late September but had previously refused to say if he wants to be a permanent replacement.

Glenn told Sky Sports News HQ: "He's made it clear over the last week that he's convinced he wants the job."

Glenn went on to say that the FA will soon be interviewing Southgate for the permanent role.

Asked if the governing body will be interviewing other candidates, Glenn replied: "Potentially".

Pressed on why only "potentially" and not definitely, Glenn said: "Because why would I say anything different. Look, this interview process has to be discreet."
