Harry Kane has promised to look after teenage team-mate Dele Alli when the Tottenham pair meet up with England next week.
The striker's rise from being Spurs' third-choice striker to becoming one of the most talked about players in the country is well-documented.
But Kane's goal-laden breakthrough season has brought with it increased scrutiny and pressure, making the 22-year-old well-placed to help Alli deal with being thrust into the spotlight.
Five months on from playing in Sky Bet League One with MK Dons, the 19-year-old is in line to make his England debut after being called up for the Euro 2016 qualifiers against Estonia and Lithuania.
"I think he has deserved it - he has been outstanding for us this season," Kane said of the news.
"He has come in and for such a young lad has settled very well. I am sure he is excited and everyone he re is very proud of him. I don't think he can wait to get going.
"I congratulated him when the squad was announced. He was absolutely over the moon."
Kane believes this will prove to be just the start of a "long international career" for Alli and he will try to make his first steps as seamless as possible.
"I will probably spend most of my time with him there because we are Spurs and I want to look after him, make sure he settles in all right," Kane said.
"That is what it is about. He is really excited about it.
"Andros (Townsend) was there (when Kane was first called up), (Kyle) Walker was there, who had been there before.
"Obviously me and Ryan (Mason) went in together and were quite new. We kind of hung out together until we got to know the players and trained with them.
"Everyone is so welcoming. No one will give him a hard time. We will work hard.
"You always wonder what it is like but you soon settle, and he knows St George's Park from the Under-21s.
"It will be fine, just a step up in level and training."
