England talk thrills Sol
12 Aug 2007 - 12:23:02
Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell would welcome the opportunity to revive his international career.
The 32-year-old former Tottenham and Arsenal star has not featured in the England set-up since Steve McClaren replaced Sven-Goran Eriksson last summer.
However, the current England boss has hinted that he could bring Campbell into his squad for the friendly against Germany later this month.
Campbell told the BBC: "If it comes I'll take my chances.
"I've played a long time for my country. Of course I would love the chance to do it again. I will have to wait and see if it happens.
"I am thrilled but until I am there and it is happening I'm not going to get too excited.
"I'm just going to concentrate on my game and see what I can do. That is the main thing - whatever comes after that comes after that.
"If there are no games I'll just get on with the season. If it is one game, good, if it is 15 games, fantastic."
John Terry, Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate are all currently injured, while Jamie Carragher has retired from international football.
